I don’t do music for money. This may surprise you because you are probably used to performers catering to your every need. That’s not me. Disappointed? I am sorry! But before you turn away, let me take a moment to introduce myself.

After performing music and deejaying for nearly decade and a half and performing at hundreds of events very rarely have I come across another DJ who will surpass my knowledge of music in 10+ languages and 50+ genres. I know music as you know your secret imperfections. If you are concerned about music at your event, don’t be. I get it.

Between embedding music from a LIVE digital library of 150,000+ tracks by moving the mixer knobs to mixing the incoming flow of beats I will perform what I know best but I won’t do gimmicks to impress you or the crowd. I believe that music works if its able to raise every hair on your body and make you dance like a little kid who has just discovered a brand new bouncy bed in his room. If that happens once during my gig, I think I have done my job. If that happens twice, you better buy me a nice dinner.

In all honesty, your time is important to me. My time is important to me and the reason why I do this is even more important to me.

I believe music has the power to bring people together. The first sound of the music makes the party come to life and I believe its an amazing advantage I have as a performer.

I am however extremely straightforward and believe in working with honest people with an honest approach through honest music. If you are still wondering who I am, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Nabeel and I have a few different faces and a life that comes with each face.

I was born in Tripoli, Libya and then grew up all over the world. My paternal side of the family comes from Peshawar, Pakistan with some Afghan roots and my maternal side of the family comes from Bhopal, India. Yup, I am stuck between two conflicts; conflicts that are glued together with similar culture, music, stories, history, love, ties, ordinary and extra ordinary circumstance. I am loved by both sides or hated by both sides. Funny how that works!

During 9-5 hours, I put on a face of an entrepreneur and a marketer. I made living from my music for a long time and decided that as I am growing older I need to use my creative skills in other areas to establish a stronger foundation for everything I want to accomplish.

One thing led to another and I ended up founding and running an amazing boutique marketing consulting firm. AppealCulture provides marketing and business development services to entrepreneurs, small business and couple of mega billion dollar companies. For our biggest client,we manage global marketing initiatives that span 70+ countries. Creativity is my work and I have worked very hard to build this company and I am very proud of it.

Many people wonder, so why do I do this DJ thing? Why do I put up with crazy people? (of-course not talking about you), Why do I deal with late nights? physical labor? drunken people? Well, first of all, I never claimed to be completely sane. I do have many reasons why I do this but I will share the top 3 reasons with you.

1. Because music is in my blood. It’s my escape and I enjoy making people dance. This is one thing that’s been pretty consistent in my life throughout my childhood, high school and college years.

2. I have been doing music longer than I have been doing this business thing; and I am probably a better DJ than a businessman :)   (some may not agree) and most importantly;

3. It’s what keeps me grounded.

Fourteen years ago when I professionally started working as a DJ, I was performing music because music was my passion and it paid my bills, allowed me to travel and experience new things. It also allowed me the creative freedom I was looking for to feel fulfilled. Now, I perform to support social causes that are near and dear to me and because of that, it fulfills me in other ways.

All the proceedings of my music go directly to Social Accept – a non for profit initiative I started 6 years ago as Desi Attitude. My primary goal is to build a school for children in India and Pakistan who are unable to afford education. Most of these children are being abused as child laborers or by “beggar mafia”.

Under the Social Accept banner, I started a project that will within a year, allow 150 children (from KG to 5th Grade) to get free education, uniforms, and meals and will provide incentives to stay in school. The team on the ground has already started the work and I can’t wait for this dream to come true.

So yes I am a DJ, and yes I am an entrepreneur and yes I am a few other things but deep down I am a guy who is committed to his music, and his commitment to others — someone who loves creating and delivering music and making people dance while attempting to make this world a better place.

If you are ready to dance, I am ready to make you dance.

Let’s talk!

Best,
DJ Desi
